Robinsons Malls Support Cardinal Sin Housing Project

Robinsons Malls, through its advocacy The Gift of Change (TGOC) will revisit the Cardinal Sin Village housing project as its beneficiary for 2005. The campaign will start this June and all donations will be turned over to the Community by November 2005.

This Housing Project, which is located in Punta, Sta. Ana, is a “dream project” of the retired Archbishop of Manila Jaime Cardinal Sin which aims to provide homes and livelihood for the less privileged. The Robinsons Malls, through its Metro Manila-based shopping malls, hopes to assist this project through its coin donation banks and donation boxes. “Supporting the Cardinal Sin Housing Project is a laudable edeavor for Robinsons Malls. As we continue to grow as a mall chain, we believe that it is essential and meaningful to extend a helping hand to the less priviledged”, says Roseann Coscolluela-Villegas, corporate pr manager for Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC), a real estate company engaged in the development of commercial centers, high rise buildings, housing and land development and hotels.

Ms. Villegas adds that this is the second year that Robinsons Malls will support the project.

“So far, we have finished Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Building, the first structure which houses 84 families,” laments Father Mark C. Munda, the over all project coordinator of Cardinal Sin Housing Project. “We are presently constructing the second building which we will name after “Our Lady of Peace”, and a church. A portion of the administration offices has been converted into a temporary classroom until we have raised enough funds to construct and finish a school for the community”, adds Father Mark. Adjacent to this area is a bakery where members of the community learn the rudiments of baking. “This is also part of our livelihood project which provide additional skills to members of the community. We then sell the baked products also to the community and eventually split up profits in order the sustain operations”.

Robinsons Malls, through The Gift of Change (TGOC) project is aiming to assist the community in finishing the remainder of the Cardinal Sin Housing Project. Individuals or parties who may want to extend a helping hand can call the RLC PR office at telephone numbers 6836355; 6836100, locals 791 or 792
