Robinsons Land Artablado Launches Its First-Ever National Art Competition

Art tells a lot about a country’s heritage. Behind the swirling brush strokes are stories of our forefathers, between shadows and lines of a sketch is a description of how our people live, and every corner in a sculpture is a narrative of wars won. This is especially true in the Philippines where the most brilliant artists create works of art that illustrate our history and culture. And Robinsons Land Artablado, through its first national art competition, hopes to bring out every Filipino’s capacity to create masterpieces that can be shared to the world. It couldn’t be more apt that the inaugural edition follows the theme “CREATE,” which is defined as “bring something to existence.”

Artablado, a portmanteau of “art” and “entablado” (Filipino word for stage) is Robinsons Land’s very own stage in showcasing the Filipino ingenuity and creativity. This platform allows emerging artists to freely express themselves through art and paves the way to greater recognition of their talent and hard work. And the 2020 Robinsons Land Artablado Painting Competition is the first step in the property developer’s campaign to illustrate the beauty of the Philippines, showcase the future of arts, share Filipino culture and festivities, and create awareness and open the eyes of Filipinos on environmental changes.

This art competition is open to all Filipinos aged 18 years old and above. It has two categories: representational and non-representational, and is limited to works using acrylic or oil on canvas. Since it is a painting competition, mixed media is not allowed. Art subject should be non-political, non-sectarian, and non-violent.

Participants may submit only one entry per category, which means you can submit for both representation and non-representational sections if you’re feeling creative. Just make sure that the size of your work meets the minimum requirement of 2 feet by 3 feet and maximum measurement of 4 feet by 4 feet (excluding the frame).
Deadline of submission is on March 20, 2020. The contestant’s name must not appear on the painting, but a card tag should be placed at the back of the piece. This should contain the name, birthday, age, contact number, title of the artwork, a brief information about the piece (five to 10 sentences), and year it was created. Along with the painting is a completely filled out official entry form and a signed copy of the waiver, which can both be downloaded through the Robinsons Land Corporation website. Entries can either be hand-delivered or shipped to Corporate PR Department, Robinsons Land Corporation, 12th Floor, Robinsons Cyberscape Alpha, Garnet and Sapphire Roads, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

Announcement of winners will be made during the Artablado grand launch on April 4. First prize winners for both categories get P60,000 in cash, a solo exhibition at Robinsons Galleria Ortigas, an overnight stay at Summit Ridge Tagaytay, and a plaque. Second prize winners get P40,000 in cash, an overnight stay at Summit Chimes in Greenhills, and a plaque. Third prize winners get P20,000 in cash, an overnight stay at Summit Magnolia in Quezon City, and a plaque. Up to 22 finalists will be selected for both categories, all of which will be handed P2,000 in cash. All winning entries will also be part of the 2020 ARTablado traveling exhibition.
